Privacy Policy
The short version: Nana shows you your own money in one place. We only use your information to run Nana for you. We never sell it, we do not show ads, and Nana can see your accounts but can never move your money. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
This policy explains how Nana Finance ("Nana", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Nana Personal Finance app and nanafinance.com. If you have questions, email privacy@nanafinance.com.
Information we collect
Your account. When you sign up we keep your email address and, if you choose, your name. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us your name and either your email or a private relay address that forwards to you. If you add a passkey, we store only its public key; the private key stays on your device.
Financial information you connect. When you connect a bank, card, loan or investment account, our partner Plaid Inc. shares with us the accounts you choose: account names and the last digits of account numbers, balances, transactions, loan details such as your mortgage balance, and investment holdings. You sign in to your bank through Plaid. Nana never sees or stores your bank username or password, and Nana's access is read-only.
Information you add. Anything you enter in Nana, such as budgets, goals, categories, tags, notes, household member names, and homes or vehicles you add (including an address, purchase price and estimated value).
Technical information. Our hosting providers keep standard logs, such as IP addresses, device type and the time of requests, to keep the service secure and working. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics tools.
Face ID. If you turn on "Require Face ID", your iPhone checks your face or passcode. Nana never receives your biometric data.
How we use it
- To show your net worth, transactions, budgets, bills, goals and insights.
- To keep your information in step across your devices.
- To send you account emails, such as confirming your address, and reminders you turn on.
- To keep Nana secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use your financial data to market other companies' products to you.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Nana for us, and only what they need:
- Plaid connects your financial accounts. Plaid's use of your information is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
- Supabase hosts Nana's database, sign-in and server functions in the United States.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and passkeys.
- Our email provider sends account emails such as sign-up confirmations.
- Vercel hosts nanafinance.com.
People you invite to your household. If you share your household, the people you invite can see your connected accounts, balances, transactions, budgets and goals, and those with edit access can change them. You can change what they can do, or remove them, at any time in Settings, then Shared household.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public. If Nana is ever sold or merged, this policy will continue to apply to the information you gave us.
How we protect it
Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is encrypted at rest by our hosting providers. Database rules let each account read only its own data. The keys that let Nana fetch your bank data are kept on our servers and are never sent to the app.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can disconnect a bank at any time. To delete everything, open Settings, then Data and privacy, then Delete my account. This disconnects every bank and permanently deletes your data and your login. Copies in our providers' backups are removed on their normal schedule, typically within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can see and correct your information in the app, download your transactions as a spreadsheet (Settings, then Export transactions), and delete your account. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information or for help with any of these. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have further rights over your personal information; we honor them, and we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Children
Nana is meant for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
